Here she is on day 7. I can't believe her ability to smile through all of this. We believe that if all goes well during tomorrows surgery, she may be home as soon as Thursday or Friday. Thank you all for the flowers and cards but Mandy has asked for a hold on the flowers. Please continue to send the cards. The address is 941 Spruce Street, Birmingham, AL 35224. Thank you all for all that you do. Posted by Picasa

Momma and the little man spent a little quality time Saturday afternoon. Walley the Walrus appears thanks to our great friends Noah and Courtney. They have truly been a blessing for us. Especially Courtney, Mandy's little "Fairy". Posted by Picasa

I just want to take a few minutes to show everyone what happened and how. Please don't think me as being morbid but this is one of the ways I am processing this whole thing. I will be taking all of these posts down soon. I don't think Mandy is ready to relive this just yet but I want everyone else to get a clear picture of how God saved my wife. Truly he has a purpose for her and he is saving her so that he can use her for his will. Just past the pole in the center of the picture is where Mandy and the mower slipped off of the hill. I was about 10 feet to the right of the right edge of the photo when I saw her fall. You can see the distance that she and the mower traveled as they made 1 and 1/2 flips sideways. The grass chute on the right hand side of the mower landed on her outstretched right arm on the first half flip, doing the damage. I don't believe that she ever let go with her left arm which explains why she followed the mower for the rest of the rotation and landed underneath the mower yet still in the seat. She amazingly survived all of this without losing conciousness and was able to walk with me down the driveway and up the steps to her Grandmothers porch (on the house in the picture) within seconds of the accident. She is truly an amazing woman. Thank you all for your prayers. Please send Mandy cards if you can, they have been the highlight of each day. Tears of joy are the most beautiful thing I have ever seen on Mandy's face.Thank you all. Posted by Picasa

This is from the direction from which she came up the hill. As you look to the bottom left of the picture, you can see how the ground looks pretty level but then you see where the blades cut the ground and you can see the sudden drop off on the left hand side. There was really no way she could see the angle. Posted by Picasa

You can see how the blades cut into the ground as it began to slip off the hill. Somehow she and the mower dodged the guide wire and tumbled sideways down the hill. Realize that the mower slipped backwards and down the hill. Otherwise, they would have hit the guidewire first and she would have been thrown from the mower first, probably with a much worse outcome. Posted by Picasa

This gives a better perspective of the distance and angle at which she and the mower fell. Posted by Picasa

The bright spot of sunlight is about where she landed. Posted by Picasa

Blessings

I just wanted to take a few minutes to thank everyone for their prayers in this time of trauma. Mandy was injured Saturday morning when she and the lawnmower she was riding slipped off the side of an embankment and flipped down. She is reasonably okay considering the alternative. I will give more detail here one day in hopes of helping everyone know how wonderful God is. Suffice to say that she is alive but without her right thumb. She will be having another surgery Thursday to repair her wrist and index finger. This should be the last surgery for a few months and they are talking about us going home sometime this weekend or early next week.
Please pray for her healing and emotional strength during this trying time. We can't thank everyone enough for the love and support you have already shown. May God bless you all. Chris
