We made two belly casts this weekend. It was surprisingly easy to do and not as messy as we expected. (Except for the vaseline that you apply before the cast. That stuff is hard to wash off!) The first one we did on Saturday included moms hands on her belly. It was sort of a trial run and we learned that we had to pick a comfortable chair and position after 20 of the 30 minutes it took to complete. We figured this out the hard way. After a few tears and more than a few yells and screams, we changed out of the chair and into the floor. It didn't ruin the cast but it did make it less that we wanted. So back to Hobby Lobby we went and got more supplies for Sundays cast. This time we got a comfy chair and position so no need to move. Plus, we didn't include the hands due to the complexity that they add to the process. Next, we will add a coat of plaster to strengthen the mold and sand it to a smooth finish.Yee-haw!
